Spider-Man & Spider-Gwen had a romance in Sitting in a Tree [The Book Depository]. In this trade, we meet Morales and Gwen in a crazy new adventure. They both belong to different realities, but they end up meeting. After joining S.H.I.E.L.D. again, Miles’ father goes missing. Maria Hill sent him on an undercover mission. The problem is that no one else can help because she didn’t tell anyone. Hence, it’s Spider-Man who has to rescue his dad. And he has to clean Maria’s mess in doing it. Maria gives him a device that will allow him to travel to other realities. And this is how he ends up meeting Gwen.
Miles and Gwen are my favorite spiders, and I happen to ship them together. They’re both sassy, witty, and amazing. Gwen has more expertise in the job of heroing and we can see how she teaches Miles while they’re tracking the steps of Miles’ father. There’s a lot of action in this comic book. And also romance.
[SPOILERS: there’re massive spoilers from now on. And yes, they do kiss.]
Miles comes with a shock when he discovers that the version of his Dad in Gwen’s reality is a villain. He calls himself The Scorpio, and he despises all about the Morales family. Furthermore, he has an evil plan to take hostage all realities stealing artifacts from many of them. Yes, he has a device that helps his organization going to places and stealing cool stuff.
Miles has more powers than Gwen does, but he is more naive and has less experience. He has yet to learn how to think out of the box. Gwen lives in a Universe where she needs to think out of the box and do questionable things sometimes if she wants to survive.
While they travel back and forth their universes, they end up teaming up with Ms. Marvel, and also with Spider-Ham. In Earth-8 Miles and Gwen are happily married and have two children! (Also, Spider-Ham is also married and has a lot of piglets.)
After a mess, and traveling to places, they end up finding Miles’ dad. And yes, they go to funky universes where the villains are zombies!
Romance can be complicated if you’re a Superhero, especially if you come from a different reality. However, these two seem to grow pretty close. I won’t spoil you the whole comic book. Just know that it’s a delight and super fun.
Fun notes: energy drinks taste way different in Gwen’s reality. Miles is overwhelmed with all the strange things that happen in her world. Including Daredevil. If you don’t know it yet, he’s a villain and he’s quite annoying.
But, if I have to remember something sweet. What about this poster from Earth-8?
