Loki shows his colors as the God of Lies in this new issue of Journey into Mystery [The Book Depository] [Waterstones]. In order to save Thor, he breaks into the prison after concocting a mischievous plan. Loki is trying desperately to fit in. But he only has an ally: his brother Thor. However, to make things right, he has to play the Trickster once more to save the day. The war with the Serpent is about to begin, but Loki has a plan for Asgard to survive.
Odin brought all Asgardians back, leaving Midgard behind. Odin prepared for war, and Thor protested and that brought him into prison. That’s why Loki had to use his mastery in lies to break him out of prison. However, Thor doesn’t know that Loki has helped escape another inmate: the Hel-Wolf. Now, the wolf is Loki’s pet and its helping him with his plans.
Since Odin will not seek any allies, Loki will do it for him. But, there’s a problem. Thor is in Midgard, cast away by Odin (again). War is coming and things are all messed up in Asgard. So, what can Kid Loki do? Trick the lowest of foes into becoming allies. He has Hela and Mefisto as possibilities. And both are reluctant to help one another. The reason? Mefisto tricked Hela time ago (thanks to Loki). Mefisto has the dead Valkiries and a patch of Hel. Hela, wants his patch of Hel and status back.
Before the arrival of Loki into Hela’s realm, the Serpent has already sent a diplomat to ask her assistance in the war against Asgard. By the time Loki is in front of Hela, he has no option but to trick her. And so, he puts her against Mefisto. Then, he goes and sees Mefisto and does the same. So, the hopes is that they’ll face each other and Loki will save the day.
Loki creates the problem, puts both against each other. And then, he will offer a solution. However, he’s not the only one in playing the trick.
Tyr is with Hela. He was always afraid when he was alive. Now that he’s dead he fears nothing. Loki explains his plan to Tyr so that he can get his assistant. Well, he tells him part of his plan. And so, after goings and comings, Loki sets the play.
In this issue we can see Loki doing his best: lie, scheme, trick. However, he’s not entirely having fun. Most of the trickery comes because of Old Loki messed things up badly. He made enough tricks for Kid Loki to mess around. However, he wants to be better. But, if he follows the trickster path, will he be able to become a good God? Or will he become as wicked as Old Loki?
He’s playing a very dangerous game. By using lies and tricks of Old Loki, he’s also risking to blow up his coverup. He might be good at lying, but he’s still inexperienced. He’s just a kid. He’s smart, but perhaps doesn’t know as much as to make things happen.
Loki wants to help, but with all Asgard being suspicious of him, and playing tricks around to save the day, will he become a better person?
Loki: Journey into Mystery [The Book Depository] [Waterstones] is getting better and better. It poses a great question: what happens to people who have made a mistake? If society doesn’t give them another chance, the odds are that they’ll end up doing the same mistake yet again. Not because they want to be evil, but because we don’t let them be good!
